Community initiatives

The Tourism Industry in Botswana is joining hands to provide a sustainable source of funding for community initiatives. Travel For Impact recognises the power of a collective effort on the part of the industry and has set up a vehicle to make this a reality.

Travel For Impact is a unique and powerful new enterprise, specifically set up to help community projects secure an ongoing source of income. We work closely together with our travel partners to create a central revenue stream which goes directly to vulnerable children and women and elderly throughout Northern Botswana.

Travel For Impact works with tour operators, hotels, lodges, camps, charter companies and every element of the safari industry. Each Travel For Impact Partner donates a minimum of USD1. In addition to this, every lodge, camp and hotel that the tour operator partner or agent has booked, donates a further USD1. To date, Travel For Impact has 12 partners from the tourism industry: Africa Pride, Africa Voyagers, Capricorn Safaris Desert and Delta; Elephant Trails Safaris, Endeavour Safaris; Ker and Downey; Liquid Giraffe, Ride and Walk, Safari Destinations, Safari Essence, and Yoga Safaris. Our partners from civil society are POLOKONG; Bana Ba Letsatsi, NCONGO; and Women against Rape with the number of organisations set to increase.

A little goes a long way and every contribution makes a huge difference. Here are some examples of how the money is spent:

– US$5 will feed a child for the day
– US$45 will pay for a child to be educated for a month
– US$50 will give one woman the chance to turn her life around through councelling
– US$80 will feed an old aged person for a month
– US$50 will provide councelling for one child per month

TFi partners all carry the hand logo which indicates their commitment to the ‘IMPACT’ movement. We plan on raising the profile of the various charities in tandem with raising an on-line community with our travel partners. The aim being to benefit all parties by raising their profile and visibility which in turn will increase much needed revenue to the community projects as well as encourage potential tourists to travel for an

IMPACT. A win-win situation.
We encourage you to ‘ shake hands’ with our partners, be they tour operators, ground handlers, or lodges, and know that with each booking you do with our partners you are adding value to every single holiday. At the same we time we urge you to become partners and be part of the ‘IMPACT’ chain in supporting community initiatives in Botswana. For more information please contact us at tfibotswana@gmail.com.
