This is tocky a 4 month pup brought in with hemorrhagic diarrhoea and vomiting. Tocky was so weak on admission that as we attempted to get an IV line in, he collapsed and gave a couple of agonal like gasps. Fearing the worst we chatted to his owner to explain the poor prognosis and that we may have to consider euthanasia. To our astonishment and a testament to the hardiness of Botswana dogs Tocky turned the corner overnight and little by little went on to make a full recovery he’ll be neutered soon. A remarkable dog as hardy as he is cute.

These are some of the expereinces of the volunteer vets and vet nurses who come to Maun Animal Welfare Society (MAWS) and give their time and experience to help the Maun community take care of their pets.
